First thing’s first, how will you travel? Since the task of visiting Malta from end to end quickly is both tiring and difficult, you want to conserve your energy and take a cab. While public transport is available, we know it can be hard to navigate foreign bus systems especially when in a rush. Luckily, Malta is swarming with an easier, more private and more comfortable alternative – the Bolt cab. The wait is hardly ever longer than 15 minutes and you will be surprised with how far they are willing to go. Even if you are on the very outskirts of the island, or out from clubbing at 3 am, you are likely to get a Bolt, cheap and fast.

Where to go

Start the day off strong, by grabbing a coffee and waking up in Malta’s capital city: Valletta. A hilly city, Valletta used to be (and in some senses still is) a monument for its founders, the Knights of Malta. History is easy to find in this small but mighty city as every structure has its own historical significance and story. Make sure to visit the St. John’s Co-Cathedral with names like Caravaggio as its decorators. Grab a coffee and some Pastizzi in Café Cordina or do some early morning shopping. Stroll around the Barakka Gardens and enjoy the scenery. Fun fact: Valletta was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for good reason. Once you are done appreciating the capital, step just outside the city walls and grab a Bolt. You’re sure to find one quickly as this is a known pick up spot.

Popular but surreal, the boat rides at Blue Grotto are a must

Just 20 minutes away by Bolt, is Blue Grotto. Crystal blue waters, small caves and boat rides will keep you busy for a good part of the day. While you’re there, make sure to take the infamous boat ride around the rocky formations of the Grotto. You can take a hike and take in the sites. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, you can even go rock climbing in one of Europe’s most picturesque sites. Grab lunch nearby, a quick Bolt, and it’s time to get dressed for the last part of your day.

What better place to spend the evening than a city meant for nighttime. 15 minutes from Blue Grotto and 20 from Valletta is the Silent City, Mdina. Malta in general is a common film shooting site. Mdina, for example, was the location for many Game of Thrones episodes. A town full of ghost stories and narrow, dimly lit streets, it’s perfect for dinnertime.

Soon enough, it’s time to call it a day. Finally, let Bolt take care of you and take you home. You’ll probably be tired – you experienced Malta all in one day after all!
